Additional Notes: The Matchbox Series by Lesney, made in England starting in 1953, is a beloved line that helped define the golden age of miniature vehicles. These were the original “1-75” models, named because the range eventually capped at 75 different vehicles at any one time, each designed to fit inside a matchbox-style package. These models were not built to a consistent scale but rather sized to fit the box, which gives the lineup a quirky charm, like a double-decker bus being the same length as a race car.
